An infrastructure for the future
More than half of all TV-viewing households in Germany have cable service. This puts cable well ahead of the competing transmission technologies, satellite and terrestrial antennas. Indeed there are good reasons: Cable is a secure and reliable infrastructure – it requires practically no maintenance and works in any weather. Additionally, cable offers the largest potential for the media of the future.
In addition to as many as 33 analog television stations, it already transports about 180 digital TV channels and a number of digital radio stations. Every day, more cable customers benefit from the fact that cable is gradually being provided with a back channel. This allows them to quickly and securely surf the Internet and to make telephone calls by cable. No other infrastructure offers so much variety in a single medium.
The Basic Product: Cable Service
Cable service forms the basis of Kabel Deutschland`s business and for all other products and services. Serving some 9 million connected households in 13 German federal states, Kabel Deutschland (KDG) is the leading cable network operator in Germany.
