Digital subscription packages Kabel Digital Home and Kabel Digital International cross the threshold of 750.000 subscribers. Within just 38 months after having started the marketing for it Kabel Deutschland turns out to be Germany's second biggest provider of Pay-TV packages, second only to Premiere.

2007 - September

After the upgrade of 33.000 kilometers of cable network between North Sea and Harz marketing for Kabel Internet and Kabel Phone starts in most parts of Lower Saxony. Kabel Deutschland is now able to provide internet access and telephony by TV cable to some two million households in this federal state.

2007 - April

With the feed of 26 additional foreign languages programs Kabel Deutschland's free TV offering now includes more than 100 channels.

2006 - December

Kabel Deutschland provides digital receivers for 2.5 million households free of charge. In consequence the number of digital households exceeds the mark of one million.

2006 - November

New services at Kabel Internet: messaging and hosting applications go live.

2006 - October

Kabel Deutschland continues to expand its offering of stations for digital cable access: Customers receive 76 free TV programs in digital quality.

2006 - September

Marketing of Kabel Internet and Kabel Phone starts in Bavaria. With the upgrade of the federal state's network 2.2 million households are able to access the internet and make telephone calls via TV cable.

2006 - July

Kabel Deutschland starts her pay per view offerings Select Kino and redXclub.

2006 - June

Kabel Deutschland is Germany’s first cable operator to be awarded as best internet provider with an “eco award” by the “Verband der deutschen Internetwirtschaft e.V.”.

2006 - Mai

Kabel Deutschland starts the feed of High Definition (HD) programs.

2006 - April

500,000 customers for Kabel Digital Home.

2006 February

Providence Equity Partners acquires the stakes of Apax Partners and Goldman Sachs Capital Partners in Kabel Deutschland GmbH.

Kabel Deutschland upgrades the cable network of Northern Germany. With that the marketable base for Kabel Internet and Kabel Phone grows by two million households.

2005 - December

Kabel Deutschland okays a 500 million euro investment program for the continued expansion of triple play until the beginning of 2009.

Kabel Deutschland and RTL conclude an agreement on the digital feed of the broadcasting family's programs. Agreements with ProSiebenSat.1 group and ten additional private broadcasters follow in January 2006. Thus the number of digital free TV programs rises to more than 50.

2005 - September

Kabel Digital English, featuring 15 English premium broadcasters, is added as the ninth foreign language package of Kabel Digital International.

2005 - July

For the first time Kabel Deutschland upgrades large areas for triple play: In Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland, 11,000 secondary amplifiers in 30,000 kilometers of cable are equipped with a back channel. Therewith all connected households are able to surf the internet and make phone calls via TV cable. Marketing starts in September.

2005 - April

The first pilot project is launched in Leipzig for Kabel Phone, the telephone service product over TV cable.

2005 - Februar

Half a year after the successful launch of Kabel Digital Home, the subscription TV package already has 175,000 customers.

2004 - December

Kabel Internet starts regular operation in the five pilot cities Bayreuth, Berlin, Leipzig, Munich and Saarbrücken.

2004 - September

Launch of the digital program package Kabel Digital Home with 30 digital TV channels in various genres and 47 digital radio stations. Marketing starts as well for Kabel Digital International, the foreign language offering with eight packages in seven languages.

2004 - January

Kabel Deutschland relocates its headquarters from Bonn to Unterfoehring near Munich.

2003 - December

Kabel Deutschland goes online: The first pilot project for Kabel Internet, broadband internet via TV cable, starts in Berlin.

2003 - March

An investor group consisting of Providence Equity Partners, Apax Partners and Goldman Sachs Capital Partners acquires the six regional cable network operators and bundles them in the Kabel Deutschland Group. Together with the new management, the investors begin to systematically restructure the Company from a technically-oriented infrastructure operator to a customer-oriented marketing organisation.
