Kabel Deutschland reinforces Management Board
- Herbert Hribar to be the new Chief Operating Officer
- Christof Wahl will increase focus on his position as Speaker of the Management Board and his additional responsibilities for co-operation with network level four
- Dr. Manuel Cubero now with combined responsibility for product areas
Unterfoehring, November 7th, 2006. The Supervisory Board of Kabel Deutschland has appointed Mr. Herbert Hribar (55) as new Managing Director of Kabel Deutschland GmbH. Mr. Hribar will assume responsibility for operations at Kabel Deutschland as of today. He will be in charge of Central Engineering, Technical Service, IT, and Customer Services.
Christof Wahl will in future as Speaker of the Management Board focus on the strategic development of Kabel Deutschland and the associated transformation of the company. In this function Wahl will represent the interests of Kabel Deutschland externally as well as internally. Wahl assumes responsibility for cooperating with the companies at network level four. Relations with these downstream network operators are of particular strategic significance in view of the modernization of the cable networks and introduction of triple play services via cable. Wahl is also put in charge of Legal Affairs and Regulation.
“The appointment of Mr. Hribar and the reorganization of Kabel Deutschland’s Management Board responsibilities represent a clear reinforcement of our management team. In this respect, the Supervisory Board and the share-holders of the company are doing justice to the company's strategic orientation toward offering triple play services as well as the changes in the market environment," stated Professor Heinz Riesenhuber, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Kabel Deutschland.
Mr. Hribar comes from the Swiss cable net operator Cablecom where he was responsible for the operation and modernization of broadband cable networks as well as marketing and sales in his position as managing director. Among other things, Mr. Hribar led at Cablecom the technical introduction of Internet and telephone services, including network planning and customer service. Previous to his position at Cablecom, Mr. Hribar worked at the Irish telecommunication-provider eircom.
“Our business is based on high-performance, reliable technology and modern IT systems. We are pleased to have been able to gain an excellent technical and network expert for Kabel Deutschland in Mr. Hribar, who will help us to maintain our leading position in the market for triple play services despite the intense competition,” Professor Riesenhuber continued.
Along with reorganizing the areas of responsibility of the Management Board, the Supervisory Board has also expanded the scope of functions of Dr. Manuel Cubero. In addition to his position as Chief Human Resources Officer and responsibility for the product area of Cable TV & Content, in the future Dr. Cubero will also be in charge of a second product area, Kabel Internet and Phone, which is being given higher organizational priority.
“Internet and telephone services are becoming increasingly important for Kabel Deutschland. Moreover, due to the convergence of media, it is becoming more and more difficult to separate this area from television. Therefore, the logical decision for us was to put both of these product areas into the capable hands of Manuel Cubero,” explained Professor Riesenhuber.
The appointment of Mr. Hribar gives the Management Board of Kabel Deutschland a total of five members.
